Your water supplier can provide an indicative hardness result for your postcode. During your free home survey, we’ll also test the water at your property and explain what the result means for the softener we recommend.
We consider your water hardness, household size, typical water consumption, peak flow requirements, plumbing layout and available installation space. This allows us to recommend a system that is appropriately sized for your home.
Often it is, but the material and condition of your plumbing need to be considered. During the survey, we’ll check the visible pipework, water pressure and proposed installation route. Any concerns or additional work will be explained before you commit.
That depends on the water softener selected. During your free home survey, we’ll check the proposed location and confirm any drainage, electrical or other installation requirements before you commit.
Most installations are completed in a few hours. The exact time depends on your home, plumbing layout and where the softener is installed. We’ll explain what’s involved during your free home survey, so there are no surprises on installation day.
Often, yes — but it depends on the model, your plumbing layout and the available space. During your free home survey, we identify the best location for the softener and confirm exactly what will fit before you commit.
That’s not necessarily a problem. A water softener normally requires a suitable discharge connection. During the survey, we’ll assess the available drainage and explain any additional work and cost before installation.
An ion-exchange water softener removes the calcium and magnesium responsible for water hardness and replaces them with sodium ions. It is not a drinking-water purifier and is not designed to remove microorganisms, pesticides or every other substance that may be present in water.
No. A water softener reduces hardness minerals and limescale. A drinking-water filter is designed to address particular substances, tastes or odours, depending on the filter used. The two products perform different jobs.
We recommend using your retained unsoftened cold kitchen tap for drinking and cooking. Ion-exchange softening adds sodium, and artificially softened water should not be used to prepare babies’ formula. Anyone following a medically prescribed low-sodium diet should follow their doctor’s advice.
Yes. As part of our standard installation, we normally keep the cold kitchen drinking tap connected directly to the unsoftened mains supply. We’ll confirm the proposed plumbing arrangement during your free home survey.
We normally keep outside taps on the unsoftened supply. This avoids using softened water and salt unnecessarily for gardening or outdoor cleaning. We’ll confirm which outlets will be softened before installation.
Any device installed in a water supply can cause some pressure reduction. Whether it is noticeable depends on your incoming pressure, pipework, household flow requirements and the softener selected. During the survey, we check the available pressure and flow and recommend a suitably sized system.
Softened water can normally supply the domestic hot-water side of your system and water-using appliances, subject to the manufacturer’s instructions. The sealed central-heating circuit is different: many boiler manufacturers require it to be filled with untreated water and the correct inhibitor. We’ll check the plumbing arrangement before installation.
Warranty requirements vary between manufacturers. We install the softener in accordance with the relevant plumbing requirements and consider the available manufacturer guidance when determining the connection arrangement. You should retain the installation and commissioning documents with your appliance records.
The softener periodically cleans and refreshes its resin using a measured brine solution. The captured hardness minerals are flushed to the drain and the system then returns to normal operation. Regeneration is automatic; its timing and whether softened water remains available during the process depend on the system installed.
The amount depends on the softener model, capacity, settings, water hardness and household usage. We’ll provide the relevant manufacturer information for the system recommended and explain how regeneration is controlled.
This depends on the system installed. A non-electric softener does not rely on a mains electrical supply. An electrically controlled model may temporarily stop operating or regenerating until power is restored. We’ll explain how your particular system behaves before installation.
No. A water softener is not a treatment or cure for eczema and does not replace medical advice, skincare or prescribed treatment. It removes hardness minerals from the household water supply, which may reduce limescale and cleansing-product residue. Read our Eczema & Hard Water page here for a balanced explanation of the available evidence.
Our current package prices are shown on our Pricing page. The final price depends on your property and installation requirements. Following the free home survey, you’ll receive a written quotation before deciding whether to proceed.
Your quotation will identify the selected water softener, installation work, commissioning, customer demonstration and applicable written guarantee. It will also clearly identify any optional services or work that is not included.
Yes. Prices displayed to domestic customers include VAT unless we clearly state otherwise.
Most standard installations require nothing beyond the published package price. Additional work may occasionally be needed—for example, an extended drain connection, replacement isolation valve or unusual pipework. We’ll identify this during the survey and include it in your written quotation before work begins.
Yes. Following the survey, we’ll provide a written quotation showing the recommended system, installation work, total price and any additional items. You can consider it in your own time without pressure.
Our standard arrangement is 50% when you accept the quotation and book the installation, with the remaining 50% payable following completion. Your quotation will confirm the exact payment schedule before you commit.
We accept supported debit and credit cards and any other payment methods stated on your quotation. Our team will provide secure payment instructions. Please never send card or bank details by email.
Yes. You can purchase your system without finance. Payment can follow the schedule shown on your quotation, or you can speak to us if you would prefer to pay the full amount in advance.

Your delivery schedule depends on the plan you choose and will be confirmed when you subscribe. If your household’s salt usage changes, contact us and we can discuss adjusting future deliveries.
No problem. You can change your delivery frequency through your customer portal, or contact us if you need an additional delivery.
We’ll agree delivery and access arrangements with you in advance. If you will not be home, contact us before the delivery date. Where a safe place has been agreed, we may be able to leave the salt there; however, we can only top up the softener and complete the visual check when suitable access has been arranged.
Yes. Contact our team if you would like to skip an upcoming delivery or pause your subscription. We’ll confirm the change and tell you when deliveries will resume. Notice requirements and plan conditions are explained in the subscription terms.

The main routine task is keeping the unit supplied with the correct salt. You should also check occasionally for leaks, unusual noises or warning indicators and follow the manufacturer’s instructions. Our annual service is optional and provides a more detailed system check.
No. The annual service is completely optional. Your water softener is designed to operate without mandatory annual servicing, but a regular check can help make sure everything continues to operate correctly and efficiently.
Your first annual service is normally due around 12 months after installation. If you choose the annual service, we’ll contact you when it’s approaching so you don’t have to remember.
Yes. You don’t need to decide at installation. You can add annual servicing later if you decide you’d like Purer Aqua to carry out a regular system check.
They’re separate services. Your salt subscription keeps your softener supplied with salt and includes regular delivery, top-up and a quick visual system check. The annual service is a more detailed inspection of the softener, including its resin, valve operation, settings and water pressure. You can choose either service independently.
If you notice a problem with your softener, you don’t need to wait for your annual service. Contact us and we’ll help identify the issue and arrange the appropriate support if needed. If the issue is covered by your guarantee, we’ll deal with it in accordance with the terms of your guarantee.
No. Our optional annual service is separate from your guarantee. You don’t have to take annual servicing simply to keep your Purer Aqua guarantee in place, subject to the terms and conditions of the guarantee.
The guarantee is provided directly by Purer Aqua Ltd for qualifying systems supplied and installed by us. It is not currently an insurance-backed guarantee. Your written guarantee documentation explains the full cover, exclusions and claims process.
The guarantee normally begins when the qualifying installation has been completed and commissioned. The precise start date will be recorded in your written guarantee documentation.
Yes. Our 10-year guarantee covers both the water softener and our installation workmanship, subject to the terms and exclusions of the guarantee. That means you have one clear point of responsibility with Purer Aqua if something goes wrong.
No. Our optional annual service is separate from your guarantee. You don’t need to purchase annual servicing simply to keep your Purer Aqua guarantee in place, subject to the terms and conditions of the guarantee.
Yes, subject to the terms of the guarantee. If you sell your home, the remaining guarantee can transfer to the new homeowner. Contact us when you’re moving and we’ll explain what needs to be done.
Like any guarantee, there are some exclusions. These are set out clearly in our Guarantee terms so you know exactly where you stand before you buy.
Contact Purer Aqua first. We’ll discuss the issue with you, establish whether it’s covered and explain the next steps. If a visit is required, we’ll arrange it with you.
Yes. With our 0% finance option, you pay no interest on the amount financed, provided you meet the terms of the finance agreement.
For example, a £1,695 installation could be financed at £47.08 per month over 36 months. Your exact monthly payment, term and eligibility will be confirmed during your finance application.
Not necessarily. Finance is subject to eligibility, status and the lending criteria of the finance provider. Not every application will be approved, and the finance provider may offer different options depending on your individual circumstances.
Applying for finance is quick and straightforward. When you choose the finance option, you’ll complete a secure online application with some personal and financial information.
The application usually takes just a few minutes. You’ll receive a decision online and, if approved, you’ll be asked to review and electronically sign your finance agreement before your installation is arranged.
There isn’t a specific credit score that guarantees approval.
Your application will be assessed by the finance provider using information from your application and relevant credit reference agencies. Approval depends on your individual circumstances and the provider’s lending criteria.
A finance application may involve a credit search, which could be recorded on your credit file.
The type of search and how it may affect your credit file will depend on the finance provider and the stage of your application. You’ll be told about any credit search before you submit your application.
Don’t worry — being declined for finance doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t purchase a Pure Aqua system.
You can still choose to pay for your installation outright. Depending on the finance provider and your circumstances, alternative finance options may also be available, although these are not guaranteed.
Your first monthly payment will normally be taken after your finance agreement has started and your installation has been completed or delivered, depending on the terms of your agreement.
Your exact first payment date and repayment schedule will be confirmed in your finance agreement.
Yes, you may be able to make overpayments or settle your finance early, subject to the terms of your finance agreement.
If you want to settle your finance before the end of the agreed term, contact your finance provider to request a settlement figure. They’ll confirm the amount required and explain the process.
Absolutely. If you prefer not to use finance, you can pay for your Pure Aqua system outright.
Our standard payment arrangement is 50% when you sign up and 50% on completion. If you would prefer to pay the full amount upfront, please speak to our team.
Yes, we accept credit and debit card payments, subject to the card types we support at the time of payment.
